We've been a little busy! The Husband got busy with building me a single layer garden bed and a double layer garden bed. The top will be nice for root veggies or things that require lots of root space. I'm already nagging for another as I've filled both of these and another in-ground side patch.
The Back Porch Tumbler Compost Bin was duly assembled and we are now happily composting our materials. I'm still reading more about this as I'm a composting newbie - - but so far so good. The kids love to give it a spin which works in my favor. They are fascinated!
I'll have lots more pictures of crunchy happenings - - but we've been busy hauling a boatload of soil and mulch as we work on our yard, garden and landscaping. Ah, the aching back!
Mama's students had final papers and exams which meant lots o' grading while I had a school visit almost every day this month. Right now I just want a few days off with lots of digging and nothing involving the glaring white screen of my computer. Digging, planting, and lifting is hard work but very satisfying.
The Frankenweather has really disrupted things here in Illinois, and I've been babying my plants along in their little planting cups until this weekend. We've still had cold, chills and high winds right up until now. I'm hoping my plants make it as they are showing a little damage from the cold.
I'll leave you with the optimistic view of a sugar snap pea vine starting a beautiful climb. She is quite pretty I think. You just can't beat her high hopes for growth.

Frankenweather..that's a good one! I'll have to add that one to my vocabulary!
Have fun with your new garden beds! What a great break at the end of the semester. :)
Looks good! I'm loving this compost bin, very sleek...
I can't have a composter at my condo but I've been thinking about getting one for my trailer. One is all I really need anyways.
It's frosty here too, just brought in my containers - there's a warning for tonight. And just yesterday it was HOT!

Love the compost bin! I'm jealous!
(never ever did I think I'd write those words)
Enjoy the garden fun!
I'm interested in your tumbling compost bin and how well it works. I like your term Frankenweather. Hail ruined our pepper and tomatoe plants. I sure hope next spring will be better.
Our herb garden are in clay pots; moved under the eves during this constant inclimate weather we've been having.
